The Legacy of miniatures.com

At MiniatureCrush.com, we've been crafting unique miniatures and building a vibrant community since our humble beginnings as an Etsy shop in 2017. Our passion for details drove us to create a curated space for miniature enthusiasts. Today, we want to share the story of our sister site, miniatures.com, and how it became part of our family, ensuring its legacy lives on for generations of crafters.

Miniatures.com began in the 1970s as the Hobby Builders Supply catalog, founded by the Benamy family and Houseworks. For decades, it was the heart of the miniature community, offering everything from dollhouse miniatures to complete crafting supplies. From its early days of mail-order catalogs to its growth into a beloved online store, miniatures.com became a trusted destination for hobbyists.

In June 2025, the miniature community faced a shock: miniatures.com announced it was closing its doors forever. At MiniatureCrush.com, we could not imagine the miniature world without this iconic brand. Our own journey had taken us from a home-based Etsy shop, designing laser-cut kits, to a thriving online store with over 4,000 products. When we heard about miniatures.com's retirement, we saw an opportunity to carry its legacy forward.

Picture a miniaturist starting their next project: they might choose a dollhouse kit from miniatures.com to build a charming Victorian cottage or a modern loft. To furnish it, they'd find crafted dollhouse furniture, like tables or armchairs, to bring each room to life. For the finishing touches, miniatures.com offered a wide range of dollhouse accessories, from miniature rugs to kitchenware, perfect for creating a lived-in feel. These products, loved by generations, are the heart of miniatures.com's enduring appeal.

After heartfelt discussions with our family and vendors, we realized we were ready to take on miniatures.com. The timing was serendipitous: just a year earlier, we didn't have the space or resources, but our growth had prepared us for the moment. With hard work and a touch of luck, we reached out to the Benamy family and made it happen. On June 9, 2025, we acquired miniatures.com, ensuring it remains a cornerstone of the miniature community.

We're honored to have miniatures.com as part of our family, alongside MiniatureCrush.com. With its rich history and brand, miniatures.com offers a new way to explore miniatures. Whether you're crafting a new project or adding to your collection, we invite you to visit miniatures.com and discover its timeless charm.
